Lagos

The situation of Lagos in the South West of Portugal offers some of finest scenary beaches and climate as proved by history.
Lagos was previously named Lacobriga and subsequently changed to Zawiya when occupied by the Arabs. This changed the city into a prosperous and popular area and hence the discerning tourists come back year after year. The city was almost destroyed in 1755 due to an earthquake. Little was left of the city but what was can be seen to this day like the city walls and the Forte Ponta da Bandeira.
Lagos is situated at the mouth of a small river (Ribeira de Bensafrim).
